DNS

What is DNS?
DNS is an acronym for Domain Name System.  It translates domain names into IP addresses.
How Does DNS Work
Domain names are for human convenience.  It is much easier to remember alphabetical names than numbers; on the other hand, computers can read and process numbers efficiently than alphabets.  Hence, DNS translates domain names to corresponding IP addresses which the machine uses to communicate with other DNS servers.  For example, if you want to open the domain
www.xyz.com, you type it on your web browser.  The computer translates this domain name into its corresponding IP address for example 123.456.789.012.  It sends it to other DNS servers until it reaches a DNS server with the corresponding address on its memory and transmits back to your computer.
