URL canonicalization

What is URL canonicalization?
Canonicalization is the act of choosing the best URL, generally in the context of home pages. Though they look alike, URL canonicalization decides that
www.abc.com is different from abc.com/ based on the technical aspects, as the server may offer totally different content for the two urls.
Once you pick a URL, you may use the same one in the site. Adding a 301 redirect to the URL canonicalization is also advisable, as it helps Google to redirect searches to the URL you prefer, particularly if your site has dynamic content. URL gets canonicalized in more ways than one, and it generally occurs without being noticed.
