Mirrors
What is a Mirror?
A mirror is a site that has the copies as an alternate for a resource far and difficult to access or locate. As the mirror service helps to access the sources by providing them locally that reduces the burden of network traffic on the originating server. In this manner the overall service is improved and the server is able to respond more promptly. Mirror links first came into existence due to the transatlantic links being charged more because of the data transferred from a farther place. As the number of users on the Internet is increasing the need for the mirror is to remain there for a long period of time. We can take example of Google having each country’s separate server to be easily accessible by the local net surfers hence providing mirror services at different locations world wide.
